The Shape of Bike to come

It’s in Berlin, a home for bike, that the designer Michael Ubbesen Jakobsen presented this square bike named “BauBike”, Bau’s standing as a tribute to the Bauhaus School. Almost every diagonal has been removed, and the nuts are hidden behind the bars. Here is wath it looks like

It might seems fragile to many. And the square handlebar must not be so convenient. So why such a project?
The designer explains himself : “By limiting the form with a fixed set of design rules and stepping away from the traditional function-oriented approach to the design process, this project transcends the border between design and art, raising fundamental questions about the nature of the bike as design and as a lifestyle accessory and introducing a much needed playfulness on the bicycle scene.
The BauBike is a bike for the modern urban society where adaptability is a necessity.” There you go !
